Verda Cox's Obituary
Verda E. Cox, 83, of Clinton died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus in Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Cale, Larry Hoertz, Glenn Plummer III, Glenn Plummer IV, Joe Plummer, and Randy Pierce.
Verda Erdene Kubert was born on October 20, 1925 in Baldwin, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Mayme (Geyer) Kubert. She graduated from Baldwin High School. She married Joseph N. Cox on December 5, 1953 in Clinton; he died on March 26, 1996. She worked at A.C. Nielsen Co. for 27 years until her retirement in 1990. She was a Chicago Cubs fan, loved socializing with friends, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 5 daughters: Debra (Glenn) Plummer of Camanche, Holly (Dave) Cale of Clinton, Wendy Miensma of Savanna, IL, Laurie (Randy) Pierce of Altoona, IA, and Karla Cox of Clinton; 2 sons: Steven (Linda) Cox of Fulton, IL, and Terry Cox of Clinton; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and special friend Howard Jewell of Clinton.
In addition to her husband Joseph, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Wayne and John Kubert, and one sister Iola Jewell.
