Thomas W. Mulholland's Obituary
Thomas William Mulholland, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the Alverno on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors and taps played by the Amvets, Post #28. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Rusty Dame, William Ralston, Michael Voss, Alex & Noah Dean, Cole Sander, Will, Henry & Monroe Gessmann. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters Rebecca June, Deanna Dickerson, Marlaina Marcellus, Mallory Dorsey, Kate and Sophie Sander, Isla and Lena Mulholland.
Thomas was born on July 20, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa to James and Minnie (Schultz) Mulholland. He was a graduate of Clinton High School in 1956. Served in the United States Marine Corps from June 25, 1956 to April 10, 1959. He married Deanna M. Clark June 10, 1961 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church. She passed in July 1976. Then, later he married Patricia LeFleur, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on March 10, 1978.
He worked at Clinton Corn Processing while going to CCC. Then starting at the United States Postal Service in Clinton, in 1963. Serving as the President of the Credit Union for many years, was officer-in-charge at Wheatland, Muscatine, and Fulton. Retired June 2000, after being a Postmaster in Morrison, IL for 8 years. Tom was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and NARFE, being a past president. An avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs. Tom had a collection of marbles and an amazing puzzle master, quite a fisherman, going to Deer River Minnesota at least once or twice yearly. He loved scaring his grandkids with his black panther tattoo. Tom enjoyed 40 plus years of playing poker with his Post Office friends.
His yard which was perfectly manicured, was his pride and joy besides his family. He was very proud of donating gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He loved to visit with people, especially his post office friends and brother and his sisters.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, children; Susan (Russel) Dame of West Palm Beach, Florida; Sandra (John) Ralston; and Sharon (Daniel) Voss of Clinton, Iowa. Martin (Debby) Dean of Clive, Iowa; Nicole Sander of Anamosa, Iowa; Ryan (Mia) Mulholland of Ankeny, Iowa; & Elizabeth (Jake) Gessmann of Lakeville, Minnesota. Grandchildren: Rebecca (Jason) June; Rusty Dame; William (Gina) Ralston, Deanna (Eric) Dickerson, Marlaina (Mike) Marcellus, Michael (Alli) Voss, Mallory (Lance) Dorsey, Alex and Noah Dean, Cole, Kate & Sophie Sander, Isla and Lena Mulholland. Will, Henry & Monroe Gessmann. Great Grandkids: Wesley June, Gavin and Thomas Ralston, Elleanor, Otis, Temperance & August Dickerson, Hudson (2 sisters on the way) Marcellus, Grayson and Leo Voss, Declan Dorsey. Brothers and Sisters; John (Carolyn) Mulholland, Liz McConnell, Lois Mulholland & Rita Mulholland, Charlie (Jackie) Mulholland, Dan (Julie) Mulholland. In-Laws; Jeannette Clark, Joyce Hart, Kathy and Jim Collier, Joanne LeFleur, Bruce and Alyse LeFleur, Susan Dickman, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; his parents, brother James, his first wife Deanna; in- laws; Wayne and Agatha Clark, Wendell LeFleur, Dennis Clark, Dennis McConnell, and David Wagemester. Granddaughter; Ellie Sander.
