Thomas C. Claussen, 78, of Clinton passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Genesis Medical Center - East.

Thomas Carl Claussen was born August 12, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Betty (Herrity) Claussen. He attended Goose Lake Schools. He married Susan Betts on January 13, 1978 in Morrison, Illinois. Tom worked as a truck driver for Foley Construction driving the dump truck and the low boy from 1974 until he retired at the age of 62. He also owned and operated Claussen & Son Hauling after retirement he worked for Holst Construction and Seeser Crane Service.
Tom enjoyed being outside, horseback riding, camping, rebuilding antique cars, mud racing, fishing, hunting and riding the side by side. More than anything he enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Susan Claussen of Clinton; two children: Amanda (Brian) Smith of Davenport and Adam (Jessica) Claussen of Andover, Iowa; grandchildren: Makalha Claussen and Marianna Slaughter; two great grandchildren: Zaiden and Talilah; and his siblings: WIlliam Claussen of Clinton, Leita Schultz of Clinton, Janet (Bruce) Johnson of Clinton and Barbara Manikowski of Clinton. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and an infant sister Martha.
