Thomas E. Bubenyak's Obituary
Thomas E. Bubenyak, 88, of Clinton passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at his home.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the church with luncheon to follow. Thomas Edward Bubenyak was born in Centerville, Iowa on October 6, 1935, he was the only son (adopted) to Michael Edward Bubenyak and Wilma Alberta Bubenyak; both deceased. Thomas moved to Clinton in 1947. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and High School.
Tom married Carol Ann Greve on January 5, 1957. They were married 47 years. Tom and Carol lived in Camanche. He was active in the communities of Clinton and Camanche. Tom was an Eagle Scout, he was a founding member of the board in the early days of Clinton County Mental Health. He was also instrumental in the forming of New Directions and on the Advisory Board. He served on the Camanche School Board and was active in the early Clinton Community Theatre. He was on the Camanche Police Reserve and was on the board of Substance Abuse Counselors for the state of Iowa.
Tom served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at DuPont for 32 years and retired as a shift supervisor. He attended Marycrest College after retirement and became a substance abuse counselor. He was most proud of being sober for 62 years.
He married his second wife Diane Sievers and were married for 10 years until she passed away. In the last few years he loved and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After 87 years he found out about his biological mother and finally met his biological sister Judy. He enjoyed their many conversations getting to know each other.
Tom is survived by his seven children: Michael Bubenyak of Clinton, Greg (Lyda) Bubenyak of Davenport, Patrick (Sylvia) Bubenyak of Abita Springs, LA., David Bubenyak of Davenport, Kimberley (David) Allen of Ottawa, Il., Christine (Kevin) Arpad of McPherson, KS and Mary Marquez of Ottawa, Il., 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and sister Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives and grandson Thomas.
