Steven R. Waldorf's Obituary
Steven R. Waldorf, 65, of DeWitt, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Genesis Medical Center–DeWitt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Adams, Tyler Catey, Colin Waldorf, Quentin Waldorf, Brett VanDeventer, Jordan Miller, Nick Miller and Anthony Miller. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Steven Robert Waldorf was born April 10, 1960, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Robert and Ethel (White) Waldorf. He was a 1978 graduate of Northeast High School in Goose Lake and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Iowa in 1982. Steve married Ellen Niermeyer on June 18, 1983, in Lowden, Iowa.
Steve worked for Nielsen Clearing House, Roadway, the Quad-City Times, the Muscatine Journal, and most recently served as circulation manager at the Clinton Herald. He was a member of the Clinton Kiwanis Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters, and he was involved in ROTC in college. Steve had a servant’s heart and loved supporting his community. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hosting gatherings, cooking, and being with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, taking road trips, riding his motorcycle, and was considered a talented handyman. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and alumnus.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Waldorf of DeWitt; three children: Emilie (Tyler) Catey of Bettendorf, Ryan Waldorf of DeWitt, and Joshua Waldorf of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Aiden, Lola, Ayla, Quinnlynn, and Mateo; his mother, Ethel Waldorf; his brother, Mark (Brenda) Waldorf of Camanche; his aunt, Nancy Hebeler of Clinton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Waldorf; his brother, David Waldorf; and his sister, Karin Waldorf-Applegate.
