Steven A. Sheller's Obituary
Knowing God as his Creator, Steven A. Sheller, aged 75, passed away on September 21, 2024 after a long fought battle with stage four kidney cancer. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steve Sheller cherished God’s creation whether he was in the field, water, or air. Steve enjoyed living in the country raising his English Setters, growing champion gardens and was a skilled craftsman. Most of all, he adored his children and grandchildren.
Steve was born on May 25, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Arthur and June (Swanson) Sheller. He spent his younger years exploring the river and surrounding hunting fields and swimming endless hours at the Clinton pool. Steve was a competitive diver and earned a scholarship to dive at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota. He joined the Air Force (1969 -1972) and spent four incredible years stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. While serving our country, he was also able to make incredible memories hunting bears, fishing, and taking in the unmatched outdoor experiences of Alaska.
Steve returned to Clinton where he met Ann Koch and they were married in November of 1977. Steve and Ann had two children, Marti (Josh) Skow of Ankeny, IA, and their children Caleb (Lauren), Aiden, and Ethan, and Shaun (Jodi) Sheller and their children Mya and Kinley of Cannon Falls, MN. He was also eagerly anticipating his first great-grandchild arriving in February 2025.
More than anything, Steve was a devoted father. He loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, shooting guns in the backyard, casting a fishing line and passing along his knowledge of the skilled trades. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. Steve’s dreams will live on in his children’s and grandchildren’s love for hunting, fishing, boating, flying, and working with their hands.
Throughout Steve’s career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and ability to fix most anything. Steve was co-owner of Domestic Plumbing Company, a salesman for Affiliated Steam and Cooper Tools, and ultimately finished his career owning his own general contracting business.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Ann of 46 years, his children, Marti and Shaun, his grandchildren, Caleb, Aiden, Ethan, Mya, and Kinley, his sister Jane Sheller, and his brother Scott Sheller (Patti) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Art and June Sheller, and his sister Linda Huffman. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
