Stephen L. Ivey's Obituary
Stephen L. Ivey, 66, of Camanche, passed away, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – North.
Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church – Clinton. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery – Camanche with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be Colten Hilgendorf, Mark Hilgendorf, Logan Hilgendorf, Zachary Hilgendorf, Jacob Hilgendorf, Adam Hilgendorf, Hunter Alm, and Trenton Alm. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-8:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.
Stephen Lundy Ivey was born on April 14, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Hebert Lundy and Anna Bernice (Lundeen) Ivey. He was a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1968-1970, receiving the Purple Heart from being wounded.
Steve married Carol Hilgendorf-Gray on August 3, 1974 in Clinton.
Steve was an electrician with IBEW at Aloca for 30 years retiring in 2010.
Steve was a member of the Camanche VFW where he served as Commander from 1986 to 1989 and from 1992-1993, and served on the Honor Guard, volunteered for Toys for Tots, served as the Camanche Days King in 2009 and coached Camamche little league and softball. He enjoyed following NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends.
Steve is survived by his wife: Carol of Camanche; his children: Craig (Lynne) Hilgendorf of Camanche, Mark (Lorri) Hilgendorf of Camanche, Timothy (Robin) Hilgendorf of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Christopher (Allison) Ivey of Chicago, Illinois, and Dawn (Stephen) Alm of Camanche; 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and his brother-in-law: Jim Powers of Clinton, two nephews and one niece.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Karen Powers.
