Stanley Opala, 79, of Clinton, Iowa, died Friday, March 22, 2019, at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehab- Clinton. There will be no services. Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with cremation. Online condolences may be made by visiting snellzornig.com.
Stanley was born May 4, 1939 in Poland, the son of Anna Opala. Stanley married Karen Whitmore on November 28, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clinton.
He was employed at Collis Co. for 28 years, retiring in 2000.
Stanley enjoyed bowling and received the Max Jepson Award. He was a big Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls fan. He loved fishing and NASCAR and going to the local race tracks, his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. He also enjoyed working out in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Clinton; Children, Jim Opala of Davenport, Iowa and Karri (Kenneth) Barsema of Fulton, Illinois and grandchildren, Avery Qualman and Tyler Barsema both of Fulton, Illinois.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, son, Jeff Opala, his sister and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
