Shirley J. Shontos, 76, of Clinton, passed away, Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Eagle Point Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Marcus, Randy Long, Matthew Butz, and Andrew Richmond; serving as honorary pallbearers will be Liam Richmond and Jace Butz. Shirley Jean Rentz was born on January 5, 1948 in Clinton, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (VanBuskirk) Rentz. She married Steven Shontos on May 28, 1968 in Morrison; he passed away November 18, 1998.
Shirley was a homemaker and provided child care in her home; she also worked at Pearson’s Cleaners on Camanche Avenue. She loved nature whether it was tending to her rose bushes or feeding the squirrels. She enjoyed shopping and sending cards to her family and friends. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter: Tina (Jason) Marcus of Bryant, Iowa; two grandchildren: Abigail (Andrew) Richmond and Brooke (Matthew) Butz; five great-grandchildren: Anola Richmond, Liam Richmond, Addison Butz, Jace Butz, Emryn Butz and one on the way: Mazikeen Richmond; her two brothers: Ronnie Rentz of Nevada, and Gary Rentz of Clinton. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Brian and a son infancy; two brothers, and one sister.
