Shirley J. Konetski, 72, of Clinton, passed away, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at MercyOne – Clinton.
Shirley Jean Long was born on February 23, 1954, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Lois (Schawl) Long. She was a 1972 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Paul Konetski on October 22, 1993 in Flannigan, Illinois; he passed away on November 29, 2022.
Shirley was a floral designer at Burke Florist in Clinton for many years. She loved helping people and being a Grandma and “GG.” She loved going on little trips to Galena and Prairie du Chein shopping. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved her sparkles and pretties. Her life was a beautiful story of pouring her heart into her family.
Shirley is survived by her children: Heather Hjerpe of Clinton and Michael Thyne of Illinois; a special friend: Michelle Hindrichs of Clinton; three grandchildren: Zachary (Mariah) Hjerpe of 29 Palms, California, Jacob (Kristina) Hjerpe of Clinton, and Logan Thyne; six great-grandchildren: Maximus Bowling, Zayden Hjerpe, Kaiser Hjerpe, Kolton Hjerpe, Ivar Hjerpe, and Miles Hjerpe; her sister: Margie (Dave) Sexton of Clinton, and her brother: Joe Long of Davenport.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson: Isaac Hjerpe and her brother: Tommy Long.
