Sharon McDanel's Obituary
Sharon M. McDanel, 62, of Camanche, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Linda Keeter Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Bark, Steve Bark, Jim McGrogan, Jack McGrogan, Frank Edens, and Robert Edens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm at the church. The Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Sharon Marie Edens was born on April 13, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Webber) Edens. She married David Vogel in December 1964. She then married Richard Schickling on December 23, 1980; he died August 1, 1989. She later married Michael McDanel on February 8, 1992. Sharon was a 1965 graduate of Camanche High School. Sharon worked at Jane Lamb Hospital, Bark Confectionary in Camanche, owned and operated the Sugar Shack in Camanche, the Lone Star Restaurant in LeClaire, managed the Happy Joes in Camanche, Farm & Fleet, VNA, and operated a children’s daycare with her daughter. The most valued things in Sharon’s life were her family and friends. She cherished her time spent with the grandchildren and pets: Lucas and Lizzie. She was a member and active at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche. She enthusiastically supported her children in their sporting and personal interests. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and coffee with her sisters, and fishing with anyone who said “Lets Go!” Her memory will always live on from being Homecoming and Prom Queen, to helping the needy and supporting benefits. She will be loved for eternity. Sharon is survived by her husband: Michael of Camanche; three sons: Rodney (Rhonda) Vogel of Camanche, Randy (Jennifer) Vogel of Camanche, and Roger (Christy) Vogel of Camanche; a daughter: Robyn (Jan) Butz of Camanche; a step-daughter: Cheryl (Scott) Booth of Camanche, a step-son: Christopher (Shanna) McDanel of Camanche; 14 grandchildren: Kayla LeQue, Olivia, Evan, Hunter, Allyson, Emmey, Ben and Alayna Vogel, Devyn and Courtney Booth, Kane and Wes McDanel, and Ashleigh and Alex Mayberry; two sisters: Geraldine Bark and Ruth Ann McGrogan of Camanche; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Richard; brothers: Robert and Richard Edens, sister-in-law: Carol Edens and brother-in-laws: Jim Bark and Jim McGrogan. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
