Sharon Kay German's Obituary
Sharon K. German, 70, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, February 7, 2020, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis. She was born September 21, 1949 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Gilbert and Doris (TenDolle) Oonk. On July 6, 1974, she married Robert G. German, and together they spent their very best years living in Clinton, Iowa, and Fulton, Illinois.
Sharon earned degrees in nursing and elementary education. She served on countless boards and community fundraising events throughout the years. She was also very actively involved in her churches: St. John’s Episcopal, Christ Episcopal and most recently Zion Lutheran. At the time of her death, Sharon was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood—Chapter BL, the Fulton Book Club, and Zion Lutheran Church. She loved to read, travel, and spend time with her family.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Doris Oonk, of Oostburg, Wisconsin; her children, Robert (Melissa), Timothy, and Matthew (Myriah); grandchildren Katheryn (Michael) Flanigan, Robert, Riley, Miranda, Jacob, Nathan and Joshua German; her siblings, Robert (Betty) Oonk, Deb (John) Eiring and Cindy (Trent) Schwanda; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon’s husband, Bob, and father, Gilbert Oonk, preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Sharon will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 12:00 noon. Friends may meet the family prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 439 – 3rd Avenue South, Clinton, Iowa, or a charity of your choice.
