Sandra/Sandy was born June 20, 1943, to Maurice and Rosalene (Ringland) Campbell. She was united in marriage to Douglas L. Sander on January 23, 1960, they welcomed three children.
Sandra’s career path followed Douglas’s many transfers with 3M. She worked as a bank teller, loan officer and a real estate agent in multiple locations in Iowa and Wisconsin.
In her free time, Sandy shared her love for the colors our world had to offer by expressing her creative gift through the art of quilting. She won many awards in Florida and Iowa as she was an excellent seamstress. Doug and Sandy lived in Florida for many years once they retired and they loved dressing up as clowns and creating joy for children in the community, going to the “square” to dance, swimming and shelling on the beaches. They enjoyed entertaining, traveling and neighboring – sitting outside under the trees, laughing as the sun set.
What made Sandy the happiest was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved holidays. Entering her holiday decorated home was always magical, she decorated for every holiday! She enjoyed carving pumpkins and dyeing Easter eggs, but her favorite holiday tradition was making sugar cookies with Douglas and then sharing them with their family and friends. In the summertime she spent time watching her great grandchildren’s sporting events and going on the annual end of summer Branson vacations with them. Sandra spent time with her dear friend Rick Shrader after Doug passed as they both had lost their first true loves and found comfort in each other’s company. Sandra wrote this prayer in December prior to finding out her leukemia was in remission. She truly believed in miracles and loved living life to it’s fullest.
