Sally Gertson's Obituary
Marcella "Sally" M. Gertson, 87, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at her home after an extended illness, where she was reunited with her beloved Daffy and surrounded by several of her children and grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:30am Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory, where a 6:30 pm Women of the Moose Service will be conducted and a 7:00 pm Rosary will be recited. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Eric Kraciun, Shaun Kraciun, Tom Campbell, Chad Gertson, and Eugene Gertson, III. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Sally was born July 2, 1922 in Riverside, Iowa the daughter of Leo C. and Mary T. (Kolar) Kron. She was a graduate of Iowa City High. Sally was a homemaker. Sally married Eugene W. Gertson on November 18, 1944 in San Francisco, CA; he passed away April 11, 2006 She was a member of the Church of the Visitation, Camanche, and the Altar and Rosary Society, she was an active member of the Women of the Moose, was Past Deputy and held many titles with the Women of the Moose. She was also a member of the Daughter's of Isabella and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by three sons: Michael (Patricia) Gertson of Clinton, Iowa; Terry (Marcia) Gertson of Putnam Station, New York, and Eugene Gertson, Jr. of Clinton, Iowa; three daughters: Linda (Louis, Jr.) Kraciun of Camanche, Iowa, Penny (James) Campbell of Clinton, Iowa, and Mary (LeRoy) Jarrett of Clinton, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and sisters, Ginger Reiland and Leona (Hubert) Rummelhart, both of Iowa City and Lucille (Francis) Waldschmidt of Riverside, IA. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon, a brother and her parents. Memorials may be made to the family for a favorite Charity.
