Ruth M. Schmidt's Obituary
Ruth M. Schmidt, 93, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Mercy North, Clinton. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:30 AM, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruth was born March 13, 1921 in Clinton, the daughter of Otto and Elsie (Edens) Johanson. She was a 1939 Clinton High School graduate. Ruth married Rex Schmidt May 14, 1944 in Clinton; he passed away December 6, 1969.
Ruth was a manager/cook at Clinton High School for more than 18 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and was active in the Church Circle. She helped start and was the original cook for the Saint Paul Christmas Day Dinner. Ruth enjoyed cooking, fishing, reading and spending time at her cabin in Bagley, WI. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs.
Survivors include her adopted son Gary Cox of Clinton; a nephew, great nieces, great nephews and friends and church family.
