Ruth Ocker's Obituary
Ruth M. Ocker, 78, of Camanche died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center West Campus in Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, November 12, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Ruth Marvelle Klemme was born February 4, 1932 near McCausland, the daughter of Oscar Aaron and Margaret Alvina (Hellberg) Klemme. She was a 1950 Dewitt High School graduate. She married Calvin C. Ocker on February 6, 1953 in San Diego, California; he died on January 19, 2008. For 13 years she owned and operated Bright Spot Café in Camanche. She also did many administrative jobs and secretarial work for local businesses and schools. Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche and a former member of the Camanche High School athletic booster club. She was an avid reader, loved playing cards, bird watching, and had a great sense of humor. She is survived by three daughters: Margaret “Peggy” Tynan of Kissimmee, Florida; Jolene “Bergie” (Burl) Anderson of Silvis, Illinois; and Cindy Bang of Bennett, Colorado; one son: Charlie (Shelley) Ocker of Sycamore, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister: Connie Youngers of Long Grove, Iowa; two brothers Jerry Klemme of Princeton, Iowa and Larry (Katie) Klemme of LeClaire, Iowa; stepmother: Lula Klemme of Donahue, Iowa; favorite cousin: Carma Sinkey of Camanche; sister-in-law: Carol Ann Klemme of Long Grove, Iowa; and two step brothers: Kenny and Ralph Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Jack and Jim. Memorials may be made to the family.
