Ruth A. Lemke's Obituary
Ruth Ann Lemke, 83, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Alverno, Clinton. Services will be held 10:30AM Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Clinton. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Ruth Ann Lingle was born April 8, 1936 in Clinton, the daughter of Alfred and Genevieve (Bice) Lingle. Ruth was a 1955 St. Mary’s High School graduate. She married John Lemke December 31, 1955 in Clinton.
Ruth was a homemaker and had been employed as a cook manager with the Clinton Community School district. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church; she was an avid runner, ran the Bix 7 many times and was proud to place in her age group several times, she was also an avid tennis player. Ruth was an all around sports fan and enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Linda Thompson of Clinton, IA; Mary Ellen (Rick) Carano of Ames, IA; Steve (Lori) Lemke of Delmar, IA; Matt (Rose) Lemke of Burlington, WI; Karl (Amy) Lemke of Camanche, IA; Dennis (Maria) Lemke of Clinton, IA; Brian (Jill) Lemke of Clinton, IA and John (Nevada) Lemke of Le Claire, IA; 29 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Dick (Dorothy) Lingle of Clinton, IA; sister, Sharon (Bill) Davis of La Porte, IN and her puppy, Bogie.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son, George; great-granddaughter, Vallerie; sister, Jan; brothers, Bud, Al and John and her parents.
