Rozella Ott's Obituary
Rozella I. Rosie Ott, 64, of Clinton, IA, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at her home. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, November 29, 2007 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
She was born on Sunday, January 10, 1943, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Zada D. (Bowers) Hawthorn. Rosie went to grade school in the DeWitt Schools moved to Clinton in 1958 and graduated from Clinton High in 1960. She graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines in 1961. Rosie owned and operated Family Afhair from 1961 until retiring in 2005. She was a leader in the business community for women for more than 45 years and was highly respected among her peers. In 2003 she received the Best of the Best Beauty Shop from the Clinton Herald and was also awarded the State of Iowa Accessibility Award for the Handicapped. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Women of the Moose, was a member of the National Cosmetology Association, was a past member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the Whittier School PTA, the Look Good Feel Better Program and she enjoyed working with her flowers and in her yard.
Rosie was married to Ron Ott from 1961 until 1989. She spent her later years with her faithful companion, Gail William Mauck.
Survivors include her son, Derek S. Ott of Iowa City, IA; stepbrother John Harrington of Camanche; stepsisters, Beverly A. Kammerer of Clinton and Barbara A. Miracle of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Steven S. Ott.
