Ronald W. Izer's Obituary
Ronald W. Izer, 82, of Clinton, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at the Springdale Cemetery.
Ronald William Izer was born on July 6, 1941, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Harry and Helen (Hahn) Izer. He lived in Savanna, IL with his two brothers and one sister. He went to Savanna High School, after high school he married Judy Maureen Brooks on February 27, 1962, then moved to Clinton.
He managed the Eagle Club for 40 years and retired in 2006, after retirement he went to Gulf Shores, AL
for the winters for 13 years.
To know Ron, was to love him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. You would
probably see him at his favorite watering hole. He was a long time member of the Eagle Club, Amvets and Moose Club.
He loved his cat Shadow, watching the Chicago Cubs, lowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, golf and Jeopardy. He was an avid reader, enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and doing a little gambling.
Survived by his 3 children Melissa (Ty) Otto, Maryann “Twiggy” Whitney and Corey (Angela Drury) Izer all of Clinton, one brother Steven (Daphne) Izer of Lisbon, Maine and one sister Patricia Izer Reed, of Camanche; Nine grandchildren Amber Peters, Alex (Sierra) Otto, Jarica (Jeff) Jordan, Michael Wright, Hannah (Kevin) Vysoky, Erin Izer, Taylor (Samantha) Whitney, Kyle Otto, Brooklyn Whitney and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Judy, a brother: Jerry Izer, and his daughter: Amanda Peters.
Memorials can be made to the Eagle’s Club state charity: Second Star Children’s Camp.
