Ronald G. Hufford, 70, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, April 27, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center - North.
Graveside Services will be 10:30am, Friday May 1, 2015 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.
Ronald Girvin Hufford was born on October 17, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the son of Paul and Wilma (Hall) Hufford. He was a 1963 graduate of Clinton High School. He later enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1963 serving during Vietnam in the Beachmaster Unit. He was honorably discharged in September 1969. He married Bonnie Laughlin on September 2, 1972 in Camanche.
Ron was a firefighter on the Rock Island Arsenal for 29 years retiring in 1999.
Ron enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi and ocean fishing in Key West, camping, gardening, and he loved his Labradors. He was a member of the Clinton AMVETS.
Ron is survived by his wife: Bonnie of Clinton; three daughters: Cheri (Jason) Morris of Big Lake, Alaska, Kristy (Brian) Nacker of Middleton, Wisconsin, and Cindy Hufford of Clinton; one son: Christopher (Michelle) Minssen of Belen, New Mexico, and his granddaughter: Kyla Mae Nacker.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and an uncle.
Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
He will be greatly missed.
