Ronald Fairbanks' Obituary
Ronald Elwin Fairbanks, 75, of Camanche, IA, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center- East Campus in Davenport.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 2PM to 4PM.
He was born on Sunday, October 9, 1932, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Charles and Ethel (Walters) Fairbanks. He was a 1951 graduate of the East Waterloo High School. Ronald was a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving as an A & E Mechanic from August of 1952 until August of 1956. He married Norma Tupy on November 28, 1953 in Tampa Florida. He owned and operated the Fairbanks Fishing Hole in Camanche from June 1973 until November of 1995. He also was employed as a design draftsman for CDI in Bettendorf from March 1984 until December 1992. Ronald enjoyed painting, Taxidermy, model airplanes and all hunting and fishing, especially duck and goose hunting. He had been a member of Ducks Unlimited since 1972 and also enjoyed playing the penny slots.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of Camanche, IA; son Dennis James (Deb) Fairbanks of DeWitt; daughter, Denise (Jeff) Dodson, Camanche; and grandchildren, Rosella Fairbanks, Charles Fairbanks, Aubrey Dodson and Cooper Dodson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Johnson.
