Robin Lee Thompson's Obituary
Robin Lee Thompson, 62, of Monmouth, Iowa and formerly of Tipton and Clinton, IA, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home in Monmouth. A celebration of Rob’s life will be held from 4-7PM, Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Rob was born September 21, 1955 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Charles and Arlene “Jo” (Greve) Thompson. Rob was a Clinton High School graduate. He married Linda Lemke on April 15, 1977 in Clinton, Iowa.
Robin was employed as an steel worker and production manager with Cargill and Gerdau Ameristeel for more than 40 years, retiring in 2016.
Rob was able to spend his last year of life traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid BS’er, hunter, fisherman and boater. He enjoyed coaching and watching his children play sports.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Thompson; children, Chad (Dr. Kimberly) Thompson of Maquoketa and Kristen (Brandon) Sanchez of Machesney Park, IL; grandchildren, Kailyn, Kelsie and Kellen Thompson and Sofia and Aria Sanchez; brothers, Charles Thompson, Richard Thompson and Jim Thompson all of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Cancer Center or the Children’s Hospital.
