Robert Sorensen's Obituary
Robert J. Sorensen, 87, of Clinton, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Fred Schauer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the service time. Cremation will follow the services. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: Joe Caven, Curtis Caven, Alex May, Justin Ries, Chris Ries, Tyler Sorensen, and Jorden Sorensen. Robert John Sorensen was born on December 3, 1920 in Clinton, the son of Chris and Bathilda (Christiansen) Sorensen. He grew up in Plugtown, IA. He married Dorothy Hansen (Wiese) on September 9, 1944 in Clinton; she died on May 21, 2004. He was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church. He was a farmer his entire life. He enjoyed going to farm sales, was an avid card player, loved his dogs, and especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by 4 daughters: Catherine (Garold) Caven of Clinton; Carol (Andy) Viksne of Castle Rock, CO; Dr. Bonnie May of Colorado Springs, CO, and Wanda (Dr. Randy) Litwiller of Waynesboro, GA; 3 sons: Bruce (Nan) Sorensen of Charlotte, IA; Wayne (Karen) Sorensen of Goose Lake, IA, and James (Mary Kay) Sorensen of Preston, IA; 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Velma Burt of Clinton. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother in infancy.
