Robert Sander's Obituary
Robert J. Sander, 84, of Clinton, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at his home. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Robert John Sander was born on December 31, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Estella (Anthony) Sander. He married Margaret Cronk on January 19, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa. Robert was a graduate of Clinton High School. He also was a veteran of the United States Army as a paratrooper during World War II. Robert was a steel worker with Allied Steel for 25 years. He was also employed with the Republican Gazette in Phoenix, the Clinton Herald, and Warren Industries. Robert was survived by his wife: Margaret of Clinton; one son: John (Pattie) Sander of DeWitt, Iowa, two granddaughters: Jessica (Bryon Manning) Sander of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Martina (Dan) Buckman of Camanche; six great-grandsons: Brett, Shawn, Drew, Mitchell, Kole, Bryon. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
