Robert Rickard's Obituary
Robert P. Rickard, 87, of DeWitt, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the DeWitt Community Hospital, DeWitt, Iowa. There will be no local services or visitation, the body has been cremated. His cremains will be buried in the Westfield Cemetery, Westfield, New York. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Robert P. Rickard was born on August 7, 1921 in Montreal, Canada, the son of George and Sarah (Holtermann) Rickard. He married Margaret C. Morgenstern in 1945, she later died in 1967. He later married Marjorie Aline in 1970, she later died in 1992. Robert was a graduated high school in Niagara Falls, New York and attended college in Buffalo. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Pacific during World War II. Robert was a systems analyst with Carborundum installing the first Univac computer. He later purchased at motel in Salem, Virginia. Robert is survived by two sons: Kurt (Barbara) Rickard of DeWitt, Iowa, and Jeffrey Rickard of Suffolk, Virginia, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
