Robert A. Rentz's Obituary
Robert A. Rentz, 64, of Clinton, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ted Kaster, Steve Black, Don Montgomery, Dennis Hebeler, Andrew Renkes and Scott Glazier. Visitation will be Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2:00-5:00pm at the funeral home. Robert Andrew Rentz was born on October 19, 1956 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Margaret (Van Buskirk) Rentz. He was a 1975 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Kimberly Marx on August 15, 1976 in Clinton.
Bob was a carpenter before working at Exelon for 30 years, retiring in 2013. He and Kim then saw a need in the Clinton community and opened Keeping You Sewing, where he was an integral part of the store’s daily activities. His absence will be noticed. Bob was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and most of all, spending time with his grandkids.
Bob is survived by his wife: Kim of Clinton; their children: Jeremy (Kimberly) Rentz of Angola, Indiana; Christy (Justin) Doornink of West Linn, Oregon; and Lindsey (Brad) Kennedy of Clinton; four grandchildren: Landon Kennedy, Adeleine Rentz, and Isaac and Lily Doornink; his siblings: Shirley Shontos of Clinton, Ronald Rentz of Fallon, Nevada, Mary Dohse of Clinton, and Gary Rentz of Davenport; his mother-in-law: Betty Berg of Clinton; and sister-in-law: Pamela (Randy) May and their son Brody, of Fulton, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Edward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
