Robert Reese's Obituary
Robert R. Reese, 78, of Camanche, died Tuesday at Mercy Living Center - North.
Funeral Services will be 1:30pm, Friday May 21, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post#28. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Bubenyak, Eric Reese, Tyler Naftzger, Jon Vargason, Steve Naftzger, and David Griggs. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Higbee, Vernon Rosenbery, Lyle Eberhart, David Keeney, and Curtis Cooley. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Robert Ray Reese was born on April 21, 1932 near Center Junction, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Voorhies) Reese. He married Patricia Houser on January 28, 1956 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa, Iowa. He was a 1950 graduate of Olin High School. He later served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 He was a heavy equipment operator working for Foley Construction for 34 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 537 & 150. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Pat of Camanche; two sons: Mark (Sheila) Reese of Des Moines, Iowa, and Scott (Kathy) Reese of Rockton, Illinois; two daughters: Robyn (David) Griggs of Taylor Ridge, Illinois and Susan (Steve) Naftzger of Erie, Illinois; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Camanche Volunteer Fire Department or Mercy Hospice.
