Robert Monaghan's Obituary
Robert W. Monaghan, 80, of Camanche, died Tuesday at his home in Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Monaghan, Alec Monaghan, Eric Monaghan, Jeff Glosser, Tony Walker, and Larry McElroy. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
Robert William Monaghan was born on November 29, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Russell and Elsie (Joens) Monaghan. He married Patricia Coombs on August 27, 1947 in Clinton.
He was a 1945 graduate of Clinton High School. He also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
He owned and operated the Shamrock Inn on 4th Street in Clinton for many years. He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River.
He is survived by his wife: Pat Monaghan of Camanche; two sons: Michael (Sharon) Monaghan of Clinton; Doug Monaghan of Camanche; and one daughter: Julie Monaghan of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Sarah Monaghan, Eric Monaghan, Robin Monaghan, Rikkel (Jeff) Glosser, Renee (Tony) Walker, Todd Monaghan, Katie Monaghan, and Don Monaghan, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Friends of the Camanche Public Library or Mercy Hospice.
