Robert A. Mackey's Obituary
Robert A. Mackey, 64, of Clinton, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the VA Medical Center – Iowa City, Iowa.
Graveside Services will be 10:00am, Friday, July 26, 2013 at Oakland Cemetery in Clinton. Military honors will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Robert A. Mackey was born on July 28, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Audrey Mackey. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army from 1970-1971.
Robert worked at Burpee Seed Company, PFC and the YMCA. He also worked at the Marina Marine in California.
Robert enjoyed working on cars, taking walks on the dike and through Eagle Point Park. He also enjoyed taking drives in the country.
Robert is survived by his life partner: Jan Zimmer of Clinton; his children: Julie Underwood of Ohio, Wendy (Orlin) Mitchell of Fulton, Linda Zimmer of Clinton, David Zimmer of Clinton, Darwin (Stacey) Zimmer Jr. of Clinton, and Tracy (Terry) Wood of Tucson, Arizona, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
