Robert F. Goodell's Obituary
Robert F. Goodell, 90, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 11:30am, Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Rob Welton, Tim Welton, and Adam Knepper; nephews: Terry Goodell, Bob Goodell, and Cyril Cave. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Robert Frederick Goodell was born on December 28, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Robert E. and Clara (Byers) Goodell. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1947 serving in the European Theater.
Robert married Betty Jane King on June 15, 1947; she died March 2, 2014.
Robert was employed at Jim Walter Windows for many years. Prior to that he was a police officer for the City of Clinton from 1955-1963.
Robert was a member of the Clinton American Legion, Emulation Masonic Lodge #255, and a member of the Iowa National Guard. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs and avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Robert is survived by two daughters: Deborah (Michael) Welton of Olathe, Kansas and Teresa (Kenny) Grimm of Goose Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren: Rob (Ashlee) Welton, Tim Welton, and Anna (Adam) Knepper; great-grandchildren: Joey & Dexter Welton; and Chloe Jane & Case Frederick Knepper.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
