Robert Dreibelbeis' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Dreibelbeis, 79, of Camanche, passed away, Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A Memorial Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Military honors will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28.
Robert Ray Dreibelbeis was born May 24, 1945 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Charles and Lucille (Reed) Dreibelbeis. He was a 1964 graduate of Camanche High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, serving as a B52 Stratofortress crew chief, which included duty at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam during the Vietnam War. He married Gwen Mielkey on September 16, 1983 in Camanche.
Bob was employed with DuPont for a combined 36 years in the Clinton and Spruance Plant in Richmond, Virginia, retiring in 2007. After returning to Iowa, Bob and Gwen enjoyed many road trips. Bob loved spending time on the Mississippi River boating on his pontoon, hunting and fishing. Whenever he took friends and family out on his pontoon he shared his knowledge of the mighty river, including lock and dam systems and wildlife. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening, especially sharing what he grew with friends and neighbors. He spent hours in his garage tinkering and visiting with any and all whom stopped by.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gwen, daughter Danielle; son Christopher (Nicole); two grandchildren: Luke and Harper; sister-in-law, Nancy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Vern and Chuck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Living Lands & Water or to the family.
