Robert H. Dannatt's Obituary
Robert H. Dannatt, 98 of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at MercyOne.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Donny Schroeder, Travis Schroeder, Ryan Perkins, Austin Allen, and Derek Green. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time at the funeral home on Monday.
Robert Herman Dannatt was born on April 4, 1923, in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of Herman and Grace (Hall) Dannatt. He was employed at the Curtis Company and the Rock Island Arsnal before enlisting in the United States Army serving in World War II where he drove a half track. After being discharged after 3 years and 3 days he returned to the farm where he went from farming with horses to driving John Deere tractors for the rest of his life. He also worked as a carpenter working on many buildings in the Clinton area. He also built 2 houses that he lived in.
Robert married Ione Giddings on October 8, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church; she passed away April 30, 2007. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Low Moor Lions. He enjoyed having coffee in Low Moor and Camanche, taking vacations, and working on carpentry projects. He loved farming.
Robert is survived by his daughter: Cheryl (Dennis) Schroeder of DeWitt, three grandchildren: Donny (Kendra) Schroeder of Camanche, Travis (Amy) Schroeder of DeWitt, and Leann (Ryan) Perkins of Cedar Falls, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers.
Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
