Robert Carpenter's Obituary
Robert G. Carpenter, 73, of Albany, IL, passed away, Friday, February 17, 2012 at his home in Albany. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory with Pastor Dennis Glew officiating. Burial will be in the Lusk Cemetery in Albany. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Jesse Weller, Joshua Van Meter, Eric Conzett, Gordon Weller, and Bryson Lefebre. Honorary pallbearer in spirit will be Zachary (Lefebre) Kramer. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
Robert Gordon Carpenter was born on January 27, 1939, in Thomson, Illinois the son of John and Bess (Groharing) Carpenter. He married Barbara (Vaughn) Lefebre on March 7, 1964.
He was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School. He was employed with Clinton Corn for many years as a certified welder and boilermaker. He worked in construction and at 3M in maintenance as a welder retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the 411 Fire Department and was a past president, and a member of the Odeon and Eagles Club. He enjoyed boating on the Mississippi, wintering in Texas, bowling, snowmobiling, and building things.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara of Albany, Illinois; five children: Matthew Lefebre of Albany, Il, Sandra (Brian) Conzett of DeWitt, Iowa, Vicki (Gary) Galant of Clinton, Iowa, Craig Lefebre of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Valarie Carpenter; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one sister: Marilyn Dykstra of Fulton, Il and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Janet Bull and one grandson: Zachary Lefebre.
Memorials can be made to either the American Cancer Society or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
