Richard W. McKenrick's Obituary
Richard W. McKenrick, 92, of Camanche, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Northridge Nursing Home – Commerce, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Paul Willis. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Richard Wilson McKenrick was born on April 21, 1921 in Camanche, Iowa, the son of Willis and Marie (Wilson) McKenrick. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Army in the 1st Division during World War II, earning the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star for his service.
Richard married Doris M. Putman on July 4, 1941 in Canton, Missouri; she died December 4, 2007.
Richard was a millwright at Clinton Corn Processing for 38 years; retiring in 1979. He was apprentice of the year in 1952.
Richard was a member of Camanche VFW Post 9664 where he served in the honor guard detail for honors at the cemetery.
Richard is survived by two daughters: Sally (Mike) Dietz of Hoschton, Georgia, and Mary (Bill) Fisher of Merrill, Wisconsin,; 4 grandchildren: Gary R. (Amy) Wiebers of Panama City, Florida, Theresa (Kenny) Jamison of Hoschton, Georgia, James W. (Jackie) Fisher of Vandenberg AFB, California, and Jonathan R. Fisher of Merrill, Wisconsin and 9great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Richard, Jr., and two brothers.
