Richard J. Diedrich's Obituary
Richard J. Diedrich, 74, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his home in Camanche.
According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services or visitation; the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Richard John Diedrich was born on February 8, 1949 in Clinton, the son of George and Rosemary (Rickerl) Diedrich. He married Diana Henry on June 15, 1968 in Clinton. He was inducted into the US Army in April 1968 until discharged on March 25, 1971.
Dick was a farmer and worked for Caterpillar and Champion and after his retirement from farming he had a successful construction business in Georgia. He was known for his colorful vocabulary and his dry sense of humor.
Dick is survived by his wife: Diana of Camanche, two daughters: Jennifer (Vivencio) Lozano of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Dana Diedrich of Fayetteville, Georgia, his grandson: Alex; brother: Donald (Macel) Diedrich of Low Moor, Iowa; sisters: Marilyn Stevenson, Evelyn Fuegen, and Ellen (Steve) Maxwell, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Geraldine, and brother Clarence Diedrich and nephew Chad Christensen.
Memorials can be made to the Iowa City VA Medical Center or the COPD Foundation. The family wishes to thank his brother and sister-in-law: Don and Macel for their love and support while Dick was being treated for cancer.
