Richard M.(Dick) Olson, 86, of Albany passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Big Meadows in Savanna, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held on Dick’s birthday, Wednesday, July 19th from 3-7pm at the home of Suzanne and Dave Rose l Read Obituary
Condolences from the Giesler family. My dad, Dale Giesler, and Dick became good friends when they worked together at CHS. They had a lot of fun together in the years before my dad passed. We all enjoyed getting to know Dick and Suellen and are sending thoughts and prayers.
Dick and Suellen organized several canoe outings for the CHS staff. What FUN we had!!! Afterwards, we would go to their house for a delicious feast. Great memories!
So many fond memories and in so many locations! Getting lost on the way to the Appleton rum factory in Jamaica, and to get their 4 hrs later only to find it closed - was a highlight! No matter the challenge of the journey, Dick you were up for it, with humour and adventurous grin in bucket loads! Your extended family from Singapore (via Jamaica, London and Scotland) will miss you.
Dick served as one of my counselors when I was a student at Clinton High School. He seemed truly interested in students. When I saw him in the hallway at school he would always greet me and other students. I was glad when he married you Suellen and appreciate your strong love and respect for one another. Sue, I am praying for you and the rest of the Olson/Savory family as you deal with his loss. I think it is a real tribute to Dick (still want to call him Mr. Olson) that you are celebrating his life on his birthday. Wish I could join you on that day. Papa Olson was the best grandfather you could ask for. There never was a dull moment spending time with him. My favorite memory was when he taught me how to drive a stick shift when I was only 14. I'll never forget cruising those back roads with grandpa in his convertible Mazda Miata! Thank you for everything
Many memories with Richard .fishing in Canada,golfing,watching wrestling, ,track traveling to Alabama for turkey hunting during the fuel shortage, and flying. He was a co-owner of a VW camper bus that rusted faster then we could repair it. Don,Judy Doughty
