Richard Colschen's Obituary
Richard L. Colschen, 78, of Clinton died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded. All services will be private. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Richard Lowell Colschen was born on November 28, 1930 at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, the son of Frederick and Esther (Huber) Colschen. He was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Alice M. Westman on January 27, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton; she died on June 30, 2001. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a foreman in the gas department at Interstate Power for 44 years, retiring in 1991. He served on the Building and Grounds Committees for both St. Patrick’s Church and Grace Episcopal Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by 2 daughters: Christine Larson of Clinton and Virginia “Gin” (Charles) Burg of Clinton; 2 sons: Richard A. (Marianne) Colschen of WA and Steven P. (Lori) Colschen of Clinton; one brother: David (Jackie) Colschen of IN; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Alice, he was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters. For the last nine years of his life Richard had been on dialysis, and any memorial donations may be made to Mercy Dialysis.
