Reginald E. Reppert's Obituary
Reginald E. Reppert, 96, of Camanche, passed away, Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Friday November 21, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche, with additional visitation at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery – Camanche with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.
Reginald Earl Reppert was born on December 27, 1928 in Abington, Pennsylvania, the son of Russell and Louise (Hagmayer) Reppert. He attended Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated in 1946 after enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17, serving through the fall of 1947. He went to basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Waukegan, Illinois, then received medical training in San Diego, CA before deploying to the Great Lakes Naval Hospital. He also served in the United States Army from 1950-1953, and was stationed in Munich, Germany. He married Barbara Szelejewski on November 17, 1962 in Chicago; she passed away on November 10, 2007

Reggie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Camanche American Legion, and Camanche VFW. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa State fan. He also was a Past President of the Camanche Bowling Association.
Reggie held many jobs prior to marrying Barbara. He was hired by the Chamberlain Corporation in Oskaloosa, Iowa and later transferred to Collis in Clinton. He was the Shipping Department Foreman there retiring in 1991 after 22 years. After retirement, Reggie volunteered for several years as a Van Driver for the V.A. transporting veterans to their medical appointments in Iowa City.
Reggie and Barbara traveled the country during their retirement. Most of the trips revolved around bowling in the National Bowling Tournament. They enjoyed spending time with their bowling friends and seeing the sights of our country. Reggie loved bowling. He and Barbara actually met in a bowling alley in Chicago, which established the passion of bowling in their family. Reggie had numerous first place finishes in both league and city tournament action during his career. Even bowling a 300 game at the Iowa State Tournament in 1984. He averaged 167 during his last season of bowling at the age of 93!
Reggie also enjoyed golfing. A 15 handicap golfer, he never shot a hole-in-one, but was very proud of shooting 78 in May of 2000 at Valley Oaks. He had some great times with all of his golfing buddies! Reggie and his son, Robert, golfed with Harold Jackson and Ron Streets weekly during the summers of 2021-2024. He cherished those times. During Reggie’s last nine holes of golf, this past May, he made a par on number 9 at Valley Oaks on a long putt.
Reggie was adored by his loving family. He is survived by his three children: Karen Friis of Camanche, Robert (Stacey) Reppert of Clinton, and Amy (Mike) Burmahl of Camanche; six grandchildren: Sarah (Beau) Brewer, Bradley (Lyla) Parker, Callie (Colten) Hilgendorf, Luke (Samantha) Reppert, Stefanie Burmahl, and Morgan Burmahl; and seven great-grandchildren: Caleb, Riley, Maddie, Avery, Jackson, Brynne, and Everson. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter: Samantha.
