Reed M. Kolsrud's Obituary
Reed Marcus Kolsrud,78 of Camanche passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 27, 2026, at the Alverno.
Memorial Services will be 6:00pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Reed was born on December 16, 1947, in Moline, Illinois the son of Harris and Winifred (Reed) Kolsrud. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966. He met the love of his life Cheryle Lee Mensinger in 1967 while purchasing Camel cigarettes and a cherry popsicle from the Rexall Drug Store in Camanche on June 12, 1967. They were married on November 18, 1967 until her passing on March 8, 2015.
Reed worked construction for many years, the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and IPSCO Steel in Camanche, where he was known as "Hywater". He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. Loved to watch the Indy 500, taking trips to the casino, and watching the New York Jets. He was a member of the Camanche Masonic Lodge #60 and became Master in 1996.
Reed is survived by his kids: Joel of Camanche, Jason of Vinton, Iowa, and Landi (Brian) Tichler of Morrison; six grandchildren: David (Alexis Miquelle) Hicks of Camanche, Jay Kolsrud of Mound, Minnesota, Shanna (Taylor) Kopf of Vinton, Iowa, Tyler Tichler of Glenn Carbon, Illinois, Jenna & Marissa Tichler of Morrison; four great-grandchildren: Brooke and Connor Hicks, and Temari and Grayson Kopf; his brother: Roger (Kathy) Kolsrud of Red Wing, Minnesota, his sister: Darlene Diaz of Gilbert, Arizona; and two nieces: Michaela Johnson and Carrie Kolsrud. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryle, his parents, one sister: Delores Vozella, and two half-brothers: Donald & Charles Kolsrud.
