Ralph Allen's Obituary
Ralph W. Allen, 92, of Clinton, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Mercy Living Center South.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am to the service time at the funeral home.
Ralph William Allen was born on July 13, 1921 in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of William and B. Louise (Bertramsen) Allen. He was a 1940 graduate of Lyons High School. He married Ruby Thompson on October 25, 1942, in Clinton; she recently passed away on August 12, 2013.
Ralph was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942-1946 He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Ralph was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 33 years retiring in 1976.
Ralph was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was also a member of the Camanche VFW and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Ralph is survived by his sister: Janice Goers of New Haven, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
