Phyllis A. Kraciun's Obituary
Phyllis A. Kraciun, 93, of Camanche, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. A funeral mass for Phyllis will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the service hour Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Clinton, IA. Phyllis Kraciun of Camanche, a loving wife and mother was born on May 15,1930 to Walter and Clarissa Dowty in Wabash County, IL. Phyllis moved to Clinton in 1944 where she lived with Chris and Mata Stamp. Phyllis graduated from Clinton High school in 1948. While in high school she worked at Coney Island restaurant as a waitress, Kirk's Jewelry, the Strand and Capital theaters where she met Louis Kraciun. They were married at St Mary's church in Clinton in September of 1948. In 1954 Louis and Phyllis moved to Camanche and raised eight children.
Phyllis was active with her children in school activities. She was also very active with the Church of the Visitation in Camanche from its beginning. Phyllis was Active in the Moose Club going through the ranks to Senior Regent. Phyllis enjoyed the Senior Citizens organization, and loved camping with her family, playing cards with her card club, baking desserts, horseback riding, ice and roller skating, singing, playing her guitar and organ. Phyllis in her later years loved to travel. This included trips to Europe and taking cruises.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Louis of Camanche, IA: Randy of Bettendorf, IA; Kevin (Marsha) of Bettendorf, Chris (Dena) of Colona, IL and John (Marina) of Princeton, IA; Two daughters, Cheryl (Ken) Sullivan of Eldridge, IA and Sandy of Bettendorf, IA; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Louis Sr., one son, Kenny, daughter-in-law, Linda, her parents and grandparents, three half- brothers Eugene, Harry and Kenneth Mayer, two sisters Martha (Jo) Feldpausch of Dewitt and Betty Taulbee of Campton, Kentucky and her foster parents Chris and Mata Stamp of Clinton.
