Phyllis Boardsen's Obituary
Phyllis J. Boardsen, 83, of Moline and formerly of Clinton and Camanche, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Hope Creek Care Center, Moline. Services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be 9-11 AM Wednesday at the Church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements. Phyllis was born December 19, 1928 in Clinton the daughter of Chester and Ethel (Cooper) Kemmer. She was a 1946 Morrison High School graduate. Phyllis had been employed as the office manager at the city assessor's office in Clinton for 19 years. She and her husband, Einar both worked at Liquid Carbonics in Sterling where they met and she had also been employed at Neilsen's Clearing House in Clinton. Phyllis Kemmer married Einar Boardsen on January 11, 1948 in Morrison, Illinois; he died October 1, 1999. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church; she enjoyed travelling, fishing, walking and playing golf. She was an avid reader and loved listening to music and spending time with family and friends. She and Einar were members of the Lions Club and Elks Club. Survivors include her children, Vicki (Ken) Warren of Wisconsin Dells, WI; Debra (Tom) Brandmeyer of Moline, IL; Ann (Ken) Sperry of Reynoldsburg, OH; John (Ellen) Boardsen of Waterloo, IA and Eric (Jon Cook) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Tim Warren, Ginny Warren Thompson, Chester Warren, Bryan Boardsen, Chad Boardsen, Stacy Boardsen Palmer, Sarah Parmenter, Tommy Brandmeyer, Drew Brandmeyer, Rian Sperry, Kristen Sperry, Rex (Tabitha) Swygman and Lindsey Swygman; 15 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandson Alex Swygman. Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
