Paul Shaff's Obituary
Paul Heman Shaff Paul H. Shaff, 91, of rural Camanche, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at West Wing Place, Dewitt, Iowa. The funeral service for Paul will take place at the Camanche Chapel of the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16th at 11:00 am with Pastor Josh Martyn of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. The will be a visitation preceding the service beginning at 9:30 am. Paul Heman Shaff was born in Clinton, Iowa on December 14, 1919 to Heman D. and Esther Peterson Shaff. Paul attended Sodus School located near his home farm in Shaffton. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1938. Paul attended Iowa State University. He returned to the Pioneer family farm where he was the fourth generation to farm. He farmed with his father, wife Myrna and sons, Jon and Sam. Paul was a member of the First Presbyterian Church his entire life. He was a member of the Camanche Masonic Lodge for sixty plus years. Paul served on the board of directors at the Farmers Savings Bank later known as The Great River Bank in Princeton, Iowa for many years. Paul and Myrna enjoyed spending time in the winter in Arizona and traveling. Paul was a generous man of strong, quiet faith. He believed his greatest blessings to be his family, farming and friends. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his laugh and his ability to look on the bright side of things. Paul and Myrna loved having their grandchildren so close by. Paul is survived by his sons: Jonathan (Linda) Shaff of Clinton and Sam Shaff of Camanche. Paul is also survived by seven grandchildren: Steve Shaff of Sterling, IL, Sue Shaff of Camanche, IA, Sara (Mark) Berte of O’Fallon, MO, Stacy (Sean) Seeser of Clinton, Mandy (Brad) Reynolds of Loves Park, IL, Korine (Brad) Kilgore of Camanche, IA and Jennifer (Matthew) Fogarty of Farmington, MN. Paul is also survived by twenty three great-grandchildren: Luke, Zoe and Sophie Berte, Jane and Claire Kiester, Wilson, Carson, Emryson and Tyson Seeser, Max Fogarty, Mark, Catie, Christian, Cole, Isabelle and Emma Reynolds, Jeffrey and Alyssa Doyle, Brendan, Dawn and Jessica Clark and Bradlee and Ashton Kilgore. Paul is also survived by three step-grandchildren: Lori Reed, Lisa (Kevin) Wagner and Lance Reed. Paul is also survived by his long time neighbors and friends LeAnne and Willard Larsen. Paul was preceded in death by his dear wife of 57 years in 2000, and his son, Daniel in 2008.
