Paul Edward Carter's Obituary
Paul Edward Carter, 89, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Mercy One in Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the service hour at the church Saturday. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements. Paul was born July 15, 1931 in Johnston City, Illinois, the son of John W. and Dora Jane (Cobb) Carter. He was a graduate of Johnston City High School. Paul honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Paul married Helen Johnson August 9, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington; she died April 15, 1996. He later married Ruby Walker, March 31, 2001 at Calvary Baptist Church, Clinton.
He had been employed as a foreman and Supervisor at Hawkeye Chemical and later at Lyondell/Quantum for many years prior to retiring in 1990.
He was a very active member and ordained Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church; He was also a member of the “Unofficial” Neighborhood Watch and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Carter; children, Linda Carter; Paulette (Dennis) Brooke and Brad Carter all of Atchison, KS; step-children, Donna Burkley of Clinton; Dennis (Amber) Schmidt of Hermann, MO; Lana Zimmerman of Clinton; Robert (Ruth) Zimmerman of Delmar, IA; Denise (Mark) Wood of Clinton; Cheri (Mike Clark) Dahlin of LeClaire, IA; Jeri (Jason) Shaw of Hallsville, MO and David (Lori) Zimmerman of Fulton, IL; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and step-son, William Dean Schmidt.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.
