I am so sorry for your loss. Reberta told me what happened. This is Annette Bice that did your mom’s hair. Tell her Hi. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Saddens me to hear of Paul's passing. I have grown to Know Paul and Carol from shopping at Jewels my former employer. such great people. Always proud of Sarah and loved life. Condolences to Carol and Sarah.

I would like to send my sincere condolences to the family of Paul Behrens. Mr. Gary Koons, Paul and I had many fun times playing board games together on Friday nights. Paul was a great man and will be missed.
Sincerely,
John Giss
Even though we didn't know Paul and Carol very well we had a connection to them through Coe College. Sarah did her undergraduate degree at Coe. Our daughter. Luyre Hupfer graduated in 2003 from Coe. We usually saw Paul and Carol at Jewel where we visited about Sarah and how she was doing. The Behrens were so very proud of Sarah!
I was so, so saddened to hear of Paul's passing.
In the several years, he was my neighbor I would always look forward to speaking with him. He was clearly an intelligent and articulate individual but also the kindest and most caring individual I have ever met. He was quiet and soft-spoken but a deep and thoughtful person, that became very clear very quickly.
As a fellow veteran, he spoke proudly of his service to his country as a Navy submarine specialist. Pride would further abound whenever he would speak of his Sarah. His "buttons popped" as we followed her successes toward her Ph.D.
His love and concern for Carol were always a constant, he truly cared so much for her. They obviously had a great connection. Of course, he loved his little puppy dog and who in the neighborhood would not most remember Paul's frequent around the block walks with his little buddy.
But Paul also, being the considerate person he was, never failed to ask about myself. How I was feeling, how my teaching was going, how Peg was doing. He just CARED.
It was a gift and an honor for me to have known Paul Behrens. I will miss him.
