Patrick Joseph Hayes' Obituary
Patrick Joseph Hayes, 52, of Clinton, passed away from natural causes, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Clinton. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Patrick was born September 30, 1971 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Martha (Koolbeck) Hayes. He attended both Clinton Public and Catholic Schools, where he played football for the Mater Dei Irish, and attended Hamilton Technical College. Patrick had been employed as a cook at several area restaurants, including O’Leary’s, Applebee’s and Rastrelli’s. He had also been employed with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 25.
He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ, Clinton. Pat had a good sense of humor, was quick with a play on words, and enjoyed the company of others. He enjoyed taking off on his own adventures, sometimes with his brother Michael, to places like the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, or panning for gold out West. He loved researching about aircraft, going to airshows, and once when young, surprised a pilot that he had not taken flying lessons.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Hayes of Clinton, IA; brother, John Thomas Hayes of Clinton, IA; aunts and uncles, Mary Morris of Hopkins, MN; Helen Jirak of Golden Valley, MN; Linda (Larry) Byers of McKinney, TX and Johanna (Tom) Dvorak of Cedarburg, WI and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2020; brother, Michael in 2005 and his grandparents.
