Patricia A. Schmitz's Obituary
Patricia A. Schmitz, 93, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Alverno, Clinton.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers will her grandchildren. Burial will be at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Patricia Farley was born December 12, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Ardis T. (A.T.) and Ethel S. (Johnson) Farley. She was educated in the Clinton Community Schools, was a 1946 Clinton High School graduate and attended Cornell College for two years. Patricia married James W. Koch December 21,1948 in Camanche, Iowa; he died November 22, 1976. She later married James A. Schmitz September 15,1984 in Clinton; he died February 8, 2006.
Pat was a member of Gateway Faith Fellowship, Fulton, and was an active volunteer with the Pregnancy Center, Clinton. She was employed with Domestic Plumbing Co. for several years and later employed with the Clinton Community School District as a librarian assistant at several Clinton Schools.
Survivors include her children, Ann K. (Steven) Sheller of Clinton, Iowa; J. Thomas Koch of Holliston, Massachusetts; Patricia L. (Thomas) Malone of Tallahassee, Florida; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-children: Tom (Valerie) Schmitz and Craig (Bridgette) Schmitz, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Kay Pound of Atlanta, Georgia; and a special exchange student, Manolis Gavrilakis of Crete, Greece.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lorene Nelken, sons, Steven and David Koch and daughter-in-law, Bernadette Koch.
Patricia was beloved by nieces, nephews, family and friends who thought of her as “Mom”.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Faith Fellowship, Fulton or the Pregnancy Center, Clinton.
