Oscar Rodriguez Jr.'s Obituary
Oscar Rodriguez, Jr., 84, of Camanche passed away, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his home.
Funeral Services will be Noon, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Lighthouse Baptist Church – Camanche. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time Thursday at the church. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory – Camanche is assisting the family.
Oscar Rodriguez was born on January 24, 1940 in El Paso, Texas, the son of Oscar and Mary (Edens) Rodriguez. He married Christi Bolte on September 24, 1994 in Camanche.
Oscar was a proud navy veteran who graduated in May of 1961 from U.S. Naval School in Great Lakes, Illinois and served as an Interior Communications Electrician aboard the USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2), whose first duty stop was the Cuban Blockade. The U.S. Navy awarded the Adams the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Participating in the Cuban Missile Crisis, 1962
Oscar was a maintenance planner at Lyondell/Chemplex until retiring in 2000.
Oscar enjoyed being a hunter safety instructor for over 30 years and was proud to teach his own grandkids hunter safety. He was a gun enthusiast and loved attending gun shows. He enjoyed taking his grandkids down to the river to skip rocks. He enjoyed tent camping, fishing and canoeing with his wife. He loved to cook and his family enjoyed his cooking. He loved making leather goods. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and had so much love for his great grandkids. He had integrity, and a passion for sharing his knowledge of guns, a passion for life, and had a strong love for God and his family.
Oscar is survived by his wife: Christi of Camanche; his children: Jane (Wilton) Rodriguez-Javier of Oldsmar, Florida, M. Anisa (David) Rodriguez-Foroughi of Salem, Oregon, Chad (Lori) Bigwood of Camanche, and Chere Fraley of Camache; 8 grandchildren: Keaton, Kambren, Spencer, Shane, Schrader, Wilbert, Avery, and Mali; 5 great-grandchildren: Bransen, Bloom, Sutton, Arthur, Scarlette, and one on the way: Walker Fraley; his brother: Charles (Sherry) Rodriguez of Davenport, his sister: DeeDee Josephson of Muskegon, Michigan; his mother-in-law: Bernice Bolte of Camanche, and his brother-in-law: Dan (Nancy) Bolte of Florence, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s or Wounded Warriors.
