Norma Tollenaar's Obituary
Norma H. Tollenaar, 90, of Clinton, Iowa died Monday, November 01, 2010, at Mercy Living Center North, Clinton. Graveside memorial services will be 11:30am Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Springdale Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
Norma Helen Fife was born April 20, 1920 in Muscatine, Iowa. She attended Clinton High School. Norma married Harold H. Tollenaar on January 10, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa; he died June 29, 1988.
Norma was an expert seamstress, who did alterations of all kinds in her home for many years. She loved cooking and baking for her beloved family and friends. She was a member of the Clinton Police Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose and the First Congregational Church. Norma loved to dance, travel, exercise in the pool at the YWCA and be with her family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Norm Tollenaar of Fulton, IL; daughters, Karen (Dick) Miller of Thomson, IL, Bonnie (Harvey) Evers of Clinton, IA and Susan (Dr. Tim) Sung of Orinda, CA; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also surviving are two special friends, Johanna Finley and Alta Doescher.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her daughter-in-law.
The family of Norma Tollenaar would like to express their deepest gratitude for the wonderful, compassionate and loving care given to their mother while at Mercy Living Center North, Mercy Medical Center, with Mercy Hospice and from Dr. Stephen Harrison.
