Norma J. Schmitt's Obituary
Norma J. Schmitt, 85, of Clinton, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Prairie Hills – Clinton.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with lunch and fellowship to follow at Rastrelli’s. Her urn will be buried next to her husband at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Norma Jean Johannes was born May 27, 1931 in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of William and Zita Johannes. She married Louis Schmitt on October 3, 1953 in Dyersville, Iowa; he preceded her in death on October 7, 1978.
Norma was a homemaker and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Randy (Ellen) Schmitt of Clinton and Kevin (Catherine) Schmitt of Cambridge, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Philip (Stephanie) Schmitt of Morrison, Illinois, Joseph Schmitt of New Haven, Connecticut, Lora (Jeremy) Nelson of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Allyson (Brandon) Hicks of Beulah, North Dakota, Terry (Jill) Schmitt of Iowa City, Iowa, Evan Massey of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Sarah Massey of Chicago, Illinois; son-in-law Mark Massey of Clinton, Iowa; three great grandchildren; and one brother Jerome (Celeste) Johannes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her son Terry Schmitt and Daughter Kathy Massey.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
